Acrolasia albicaulis grows on dry or disturbed foothills sites. Leaves are deeply lobed and basal leaves are present during flowering. The species name albicaulis means "white stem".
Most sources place this species in the genus Mentzelia, but Weber has split Mentzelia into three genera:  Acrolasia, Mentzelia and Nuttallia
