Hymenopappus tenuifolius grows on sandy sites or chalk hills of the plains, as reflected in the common name Chalk Hill Hymenopappus. The heads have disk flowers only, with no ray flowers. Flowers are white. Leaves are pinnately dissected with linear leaflets. Plant height is 18 to 36 inches.
